Police are investigating a recent wave of violence in New Jersey.

The police commissioner has hinted that there may be a tie between the recent attacks and the music video for Universal/Motown recording artist Ashanti's hit single, "The Way That I Love You."

The video tells the story of a woman who exacts revenge on her cheating boyfriend. Police fear the video may spark a string of attacks by jealous lovers. Gruesome images of blood smeared walls were taken at the scene of a love crime inspired by the video.

Recently, investigators discovered a disturbing message saying: "Marcus Smith will die" in a public bathroom in New Jersey.

Authorities suspect this individual may be the next victim in this disturbing crime spree, but have been unable to reach anyone by that name.

The prime suspect, Victoria Jackson, is romantically linked to this individual. Authorities believe the suspect may resort to violence, because he is "emotionally unavailable."

Police fear she may be planning to "open a big can of whoop ass." Authorities have already expressed apprehension at the pending release of Ashanti's album The Declaration, on June 3rd, fearful that the power of the album will lead to more violence.

Only time will tell.
